First off, let me introduce myself, my name is Debbie. I love music, design, art, photography, traveling, cooking, crafting, home decor, micro brews, good wine and great food!
I like to approach my designs and photography with a sense of wonder and whimsy. I believe that beauty can be found in all things, if you just choose to look close enough . . . or far enough away. Sometimes the stamen of a lily is more interesting than the whole flower, and sometimes the entire street scene makes a bigger impact than the model hired for the shoot. It all depends on your particular point of view at the time. I personally choose to ignore the obvious and look for the unusual when taking a shot . . . sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes, well frankly, I just get plain lucky! I use the same approach when creating illustrations . . . I tend to get most of my inspirations from the unique shapes found in nature.
From a very early age I was surrounded by beautiful things and a sense of culture thanks to my mom. Always very creative and with a flair to make something beautiful out of nothing, she taught all 3 of us kids to appreciate the little things in life. I guess being a window dresser had something to do with this!
I started my "professional" art career when I was about 12, selling greeting cards I created with my thumbprint and a pen in my mom's consignment store in Southern CA. I didn't make much money, but I remember being fascinated that people thought my talent to make little people from fingerprints was indeed worthy of a price!
20+ years in the field as a graphic designer, I bring ad agency, marketing, merchandising and photography experience to my designs.
I am currently working to create my own brand while doing freelance and contract work as it presents itself. I look forward to doing more traveling here and abroad with my Trusty camera and Crusty Italian husband to bring a fresh and whimsical touch to the people, places and things this big world has to offer!
I invite you to share in my journey through my art . . . Enjoy!
